    Description

    This is the original Cape Hatteras National Seashore First Day of Issue commemorative issued in 1972 to mark the National Parks Centennial year. The awesome nautical stamp composed of 4  parts.   Each stamp displays a splendid  nautical scene:  Ship at Sea, Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, Laughing Gulls on Driftwood,  and Laughing Gulls and Dune-with the composite forming an overall grand landscape.
    It is postmarked on it first day of issue-April 5th, 1972 at Hatteras, N.C..  The left side of the envelope features a cachet (design) of the Lighthouse.  Also included is a plate block of 4 with the USPS authenticity number.
